About the NPIS - laboratory tests and antidotes

Updated 2/2014

Can the NPIS help with unusual laboratory tests and antidotes?

The NPIS units are all located in major UK teaching hospitals which have associated laboratory facilities. In addition, TOXBASE® also provides a link to "Assay Finder", a web-service providing information on availability of assays in the UK and details of sample requirements. NPIS specialists in poisons information (SPIs), or NPIS consultant clinical toxicologists may also advise you on our 24-hour NPIS helpline (in the UK 0344 892 0111 and Ireland NPIC (01) 809 2566).

All material on TOXBASE® is subject to Crown copyright protection unless otherwise stated. Material should only be used to assist in the clinical management of poisoned patients and may be printed using the "Printable version" button, however we strongly advise that printouts should NOT be kept for any length of time, or for “future reference” as they can rapidly become out of date.
